  • describe and use some of the new elements of the HTML 4.0 standard.
  • explain the purpose and use of Cascading Style sheets.
  • implement Cascading Style Sheets in their HTML documents.
  • explain the difference between Java and JavaScript.
  • describe the use and creation of some simple JavaScript applications.
  • explain the purpose of Dynamic HTML (DHTML).
  • describe the use and creation of some simple DHTML applications.

Course Overview

Learning HTML, Part 3 is a full-day hands-on class designed to teach students who have solid, fundamental HTML scripting experience the recent and proposed extensions to the HTML standard, as implemented by the top WWW browsers. This includes the implementation of frames, new elements introduced as part of the HTML 4.0 standard and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS). Students will also be introduced to the uses and creation of JavaScript and Dynamic HTML applications. [NOTE: Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x is the preferred browser for this course.]

Who Should Attend This Course

This course is designed for students who have significant HTML scripting knowledge and experience, who are responsible for web site design and development.

Prerequisites

This course requires completion of Using the Internet and the World Wide Web, Learning HTML, Part 1, and Learning HTML, Part 2 or equivalent knowledge and skills. Prior experience with a graphical user interface such as Macintosh or Windows is also required.
